Mrs. Deborah Ann (Dickerson) Hickman was born on May 17, 1957, to the union of the late Amos and Joyce Dickerson. She attended Springfield Public Schools.
Deborah was employed for the Regency Nursing Care for several years. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Hickman enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone. All the children knew her as the candy lady.
On November 7, 2010 at 11:50 p.m. at Saint John’s Hospital, Deborah heard the voice of the Master calling saying “Rest thy Servant Rest,” she was surrounded by her family. She was blessed with 53 years.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Terry Buchanan.
Deborah leaves to cherish her fond memories: husband Grady Hickman of Springfield; parents — Joyce and Leroy Williams of Springfield; four daughters Michelle Williams, Laticia Wright, Nikia Wright and Daytona Mann of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five brothers — John (Normal) Jones, Albert (Jackie) Dickerson, Aaron (Linda) Dickerson, Richard Dickerson, Gary Dickerson, all of Springfield; six sisters — Cheryl (Robert) Rice, Sandra (J.B~) Logan, Cynthia (Norman) Pearson, Sheila Dickerson, Aleshia Dickerson, all of Springfield, Carolyn Dickerson of Ottawa, Illinois; three aunts — Mary Cooper of Decatur, Pauline Jones of Monroe City, Missouri and Marilyn Holland of Peoria, Illinois; three uncles — Robert (Earlene) Jones, John Jones, both of Springfield and William (Mary Kay) Jones of West Hollywood, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
